Tips for Playing Disco Elysium

Disco Elysium is a game full of mystery and a game that is not afraid to ask the player difficult moral questions, such as what decisions they make when faced with a dark choice.

Disco Elysium is a game with multiple paths that ultimately lead to one of four endings. This article is meant to give you some tips to help you through the game.

Tip 1. Avoid combat until you get more weapons and skills.

Tip 2. Use your free weapon slot to equip a shield, then you can use a two-handed weapon in the two-handed weapon slot.

Tip 3. Trust your players. Disco Elysium is meant to be a game where you riff off of the weirdness of the setting and the actions of the players. You can't do that if you're not willing to take some risks.

Tip 4. Avoid exploring the Asylums; they are filled with radiated monsters.

Tip 5. Talk to everyone, and I mean everyone. Some of the most interesting information and items can be found in conversation.

Tip 6. Try getting the "Crying" skill, it stuns enemies.

Tip 7. Make sure your party has high lockpicking and safecracking skills.

Tip 8. Use the "Disguise" skill to avoid combat.

Tip 9. Save often. There are a number of different endings, and the game is particularly difficult to figure out when you're new to it. Thus, you'll likely want to save often.

Tip 10. Don't be afraid to reload. If you've made a mistake and would rather not redo everything, just reload rather than trying to brute force your way through it.

What I Think About It

Disco Elysium is a great game for anyone who likes a good point-and-click adventure game with a sci-fi story. It has a great setting, and it really makes you want to learn more about it. The puzzles are great and not too hard that it makes you want to stop playing, but not too easy that you can't figure it out. It has a great amount of humor in it, and it is really made to make you think.
